Shillong, Feb 19: KHADC Chief Executive Member Winston Tony Lyngdoh on Thursday announced that the executive committee will examine the possibility of forming a committee to deliberate on organising the Monolith Festival, a celebration of Khasi culture.
“The Monolith Festival should showcase not just our culture, but also the wellness of our community,” Lyngdoh said, responding to a motion by MDC Rona Khymdeit.
“We will ensure full participation from all walks of life if we decide to organize the festival.”
Lyngdoh welcomed suggestions from members on moving forward with the festival, emphasizing it should be more than just an event.
Khymdeit highlighted the festival’s significance, saying it’s not merely recreational but a showcase of Khasi culture, citing Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival as an example.
“The Monolith symbol is a household name for Khasis and Jaintias,” she said, advocating for the festival.
