Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides elects new office bearers

84th state committee meeting

Shillong, June 11: The 84th State Executive Committee meeting of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides was held at the PJ Bazeley Hall in Shillong on Thursday.

Vijay Kumar Mantri, Commissioner & Secretary, Education Department, presided over the meeting.

During the session, he was formally appointed as the State Chief Commissioner of the state association. The appointment letter was handed over by W Lyngdoh, former State Secretary and vice president.

Catrleen Lyngdoh, appointed as State Commissioner (Guides), and Mess Gayang, appointed as State Commissioner (Adult Resources), also received their respective letters of appointment during the meeting.

The committee discussed several key issues aimed at strengthening the movement across Meghalaya.

Members reviewed proposals and resolutions focused on expanding outreach and improving the effectiveness of scouting and guiding activities for young people in the state.

In his address, Mantri urged all office bearers to introduce more engaging and innovative programs to attract youth and inspire them to join the movement.

He stressed the need to make scouting and guiding more relevant for the present generation.  The meeting concluded with the National Anthem, with all members joining in to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals and objectives of the Bharat Scouts and Guides.It urged the government of India to act decisively to restore public confidence, ensure the safety of all citizens, and bring an end to the culture of impunity fuelling violence.

NESO reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice and human dignity across the North East and said it stands firmly with the people of Konsakhul Naga Village and all innocent victims of the ongoing conflict.

NESO is the apex body of eight student unions from across the North East including AASU, KSU, GSU, AAPSU, NSF, AMSU, MZP and TSF.
