Shillong, Sept 17: Following the repeated patrol bomb attacks on government installations, the state government has ordered installation of more CCTVs and intensified patrolling in the city.
Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Thursday said he had directed the DGP to act more proactively against perpetrators of the criminal acts.
“I have already instructed the DGP to be more proactive,” he said while warning that such criminal acts will not be tolerated.
He said he also instructed the DGP to “further strengthen the security by installing more CCTVs” in areas where they are required.
At the same time, police also have to further strengthen patrolling in the city, Tynsong added.
He assured that stern action would be taken against those behind such criminal activities, saying, “We will not tolerate this kind of criminal activity that happens every day and I warn once again, those criminals, to stop criminalization and the law will follow them and justice has to be done.”
On whether additional forces are needed, Tynsong said the state police are capable of handling the situation.
“Our own police force as of today is good enough to handle the situation,” he said.
