Arson attack on church condemned

Shillong, Jan 20: The Catholic Association of Shillong Archdiocese has strongly condemned an alleged attack of arson on a church in Udalguri district of Assam recently.

“This appalling incident strikes at the heart of our shared values of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence,” said VH Pala, president of the association, in a statement.

The alleged attack took place on a 75-year-old Catholic Church at Ambagan, Udalguri on the night of January 15.

The association has urged the authorities in Assam conduct a speedy investigation and ensure justice in the matter.

It also urged people of all faiths to stand united in condemning the act of violence and uphold their commitment to peace, love, and mutual respect.
