Govt floats tender for helipads in Tura, Shillong

Shillong, Jan 30: Construction of helipads in Tura and Shillong would start soon as tenders have been floated for the work at both the locations.

Informing this on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar said the the process of work allotment is under way.

“Tenders have been floated for Tura and Shillong and whether work has been allotted I am not very sure, but it is under the process of allotment,” Dhar said.

He also assured that land acquisition would not be an issue for construction of the helipads.

On the proposed extension of helicopter services to other towns, Dhar said Union Ministry of Transport asked the state government to start with Shillong and Tura.

The government is making efforts to further extend the services to other district headquarters, he said.
