Shillong, Sept 16: A POCSO court in East jaintia Hills has sentenced a man to 25 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2021.
Special Judge (POCSO) B Khriam convicted Coming Massar in connection with Khliehriat Women PS Case No. 31(09)2020 registered under Section 376(3)/506 IPC and Section 5(l)(n)/6 of POCSO Act.
The case was investigated by WPI O Tyngkan, who arrested the accused and filed charge-sheet on January 18, 2021.
Holding him guilty, the court on August 31 sentenced Massar to 25 years RI with Rs 25,000 fine under Section 376(3) IPC read with Section 5(l)/5(n)/6 POCSO Act, and an additional 5 years RI with Rs 10,000 fine under Section 506 IPC
