MSSASA seeks govt clarification on SC’s TET order

Shillong, Sept 9: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has sought clarification from the state government regarding a recent Supreme Court ruling that makes it mandatory for all in-service teachers to clear the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) within two years.

The apex court had ruled that failure to comply may result in compulsory retirement with terminal benefits.

“As stakeholders in the education sector, we wish to understand the official stance of the state government on this Supreme Court ruling and how it will be implemented in Meghalaya,” MSSASA said in a letter to the Commissioner & Secretary in-charge Education Vijay Mantri on Monday.

The association stated the government’s guidance and clarification will greatly help address the concerns of teachers across the state.

It also requested the government to issue a formal written response to ensure that the matter is properly discussed and that teachers are properly informed and supported.
