Shillong, June 18: The North East’s largest Organic Spice Processing Plant at Bhoirymbong in Ri-Bhoi district will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday.
She will be in Meghalaya on June 19 and 20 to attend a two-day seminar on “Leveraging Externally Aided Projects in the North-Eastern States” in Shillong.
The Finance Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new externally aided project worth Rs 1,200 crore on Saturday.
The same day, she will also hold an interactive session with students of Kiang Nangbah Government College in Jowai and inaugurate Khliehtyrshi Primary Health Centre in West Jaintia Hills district.
The seminar and associated visits are expected to highlight Meghalaya’s use of external funding for infrastructure, agriculture, and health, and explore ways to strengthen the implementation of EAPs across the North Eastern region, according to an official release.
