Shillong, April 30: A 15-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh was swept away by strong current of water after she fell into Weisawdong Falls in Sohra on Wednesday.
Her family from Ferozabad was part of a group of tourists visiting the popular destination.
The incident occurred around 11:30 am, police said, citing information received from the Sordar of Laitduh.
According to officials, the girl was standing close to the edge of the falls when she reportedly slipped into the water and was immediately swept away.
A Search and Rescue Team (SRT), along with police and personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services, has been deployed to the site to locate her.
There was no trace of the girl till filing this report.
