Ampati, June 5: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA), South West Garo Hills, has issued a notice under Section 3E of the National Highways Act, 1956, directing landowners and other occupants of land acquired for the Tura Bypass Project to surrender possession of the land within 60 days from the date of service or publication of the notice.
According to the notice, the acquired land is required for the construction of the two-lane Tura Bypass Project, covering the stretch from Gambagre village (Km 7.410) to Indikgre village (Km 16.620) in South West Garo Hills district.
The notice states that the land has already vested absolutely with the Central Government under Section 3D(2) of the National Highways Act, 1956, free from all encumbrances. It further notes that compensation determined under Section 3G of the Act has been approved and deposited with the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition.
Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) Kum. Anendya Raajsshre, has directed all concerned landowners and occupants to hand over possession of the acquired land, along with any structures or assets located thereon, to the Competent Authority or its authorised representatives within the stipulated period.
The notice warns that failure to comply with the directive may invite action under Section 3E(2) of the National Highways Act, 1956.
The district administration has appealed to all affected landowners and stakeholders to cooperate in the smooth implementation of the Tura Bypass Project, describing it as a key infrastructure initiative aimed at improving regional connectivity and promoting socio-economic development in the region.
